Overview: Silver Lakes Golf Estate Its 18-hole card is set to par 72 Peter Matkovich design east of Pretoria, where water, wildlife and mature parkland are woven into a large residential landscape. From the yellow tees the course measures about 6,640 metres. The layout uses dams, islands, tree lines and open fairways to create a varied round, with enough room for the golfer who wants to play conservatively and enough risk-reward to test a more aggressive strategy.
History: The golf estate was founded on 29 September 1993 and developed around Matkovich’s course as a combined residential and wildlife destination. The club’s identity has grown beyond a simple estate layout: its water system, planted corridors and conservation-minded grounds have helped it become one of Pretoria’s best-known golf communities. The original design remains recognisable in the sequence of water holes and distinctive island features.
Did You Know? The 9th and 18th share an island green, giving the course an unusually memorable double finish. The 14th also uses an island fairway, and the official course description records water influencing 11 holes, so the blue-and-green scenery is a central part of the architecture rather than a backdrop.
