Overview: Shikabe Country Club occupies a scenic position where the gentle slopes below Mount Komagatake meet the Pacific side of southern Hokkaido. The current official guide describes an 18-hole par-72 layout with a 6,705-yard back-tee total and one Pencross bentgrass green. The natural undulations and carefully placed bunkers give the course a thoughtful rhythm, while the seaside setting opens the sightlines well beyond the fairways. The opening stretch is especially memorable because the player can see the sea and feel the scale of the landscape before the round settles into its inland turns.
History: The course opened on 4 July 1975 and was designed by Shozo Ozasa. It is now operated by Daiwa Royal Golf, whose current site continues to publish course details, reservations and 2026 club activity. The historical address discrepancy in older directory material is retained as a review note, not silently overwritten: current and older official materials identify the same course through its name, telephone number, location and operating history.
Did You Know? From the opening tee, the official course description emphasizes the horizon and the feeling of driving toward the sea. On a clear day, the view can extend across Uchiura Bay toward Mount Yotei. That combination of a seaside opening, Komagatake slopes and a 6,705-yard back-tee routing gives Shikabe a sense of place that is much stronger than a generic resort-course description.
