Overview: The Pete Dye Course is a 6,828-yard, par-72 routing that deliberately breaks from the look of Mission Hills' other Shenzhen layouts. It was Pete Dye's first design in China and uses the features associated with his work: small pot bunkers, long waste areas, railroad ties, tall native grasses and heavily contoured greens. The shorter scorecard does not make the course easy. It shifts the emphasis toward creative shot-making, recovery angles and careful control around the putting surfaces.
History: Dye's course joined the Shenzhen collection as a distinct architectural statement rather than another version of the resort's wooded layouts. Mission Hills still lists it among the six Shenzhen courses and continues to use the facility for golf events. A reliable opening year for this exact routing is not published on the official page.
Did You Know? This is the first Pete Dye design in China, and the railroad-tie details are used beside bunkers, paths and waste areas to create the sharp visual contrasts that make Dye courses recognizable. The official description also calls out the wildly undulating greens, which are where the course's short-yardage strategy ultimately comes into focus.
