Overview: Shanghai Dongzhuang Beach Golf Club's Linksland course sits beside the Yangtze estuary in Pudong, close to Shanghai Pudong International Airport. Mark Hollinger and the JMP Golf Design Group created an 18-hole, par-72 links-style course on a reclaimed site, using raised contours, dune-like mounds, deep hollows, pot bunkers and firm playing surfaces to create an open coastal character. The current profile uses the 7,430-yard length reported by the American Society of Golf Course Architects and the course's established references. Wind is the dominant variable: the fairways offer room to choose a line, but the best approach changes when the breeze shifts.
History: Dongzhuang Beach is a 36-hole golf development with two distinct identities. The earlier Parkland routing belongs to 2010, while the Linksland course was designed and opened in 2012. The Linksland routing was deliberately created as a contrast to the Parkland layout, bringing a windswept seaside style to the mouth of the Yangtze. The surrounding property remains a private club rather than a conventional daily-fee resort, so the exact course name in this profile matters: these facts describe Linksland only, not the separate Parkland course at the same address.
Did You Know? The Linksland course was built near the mouth of the Yangtze River, where the river meets the East China Sea. Its open, windswept design is part of that geography, while the companion Parkland course gives the same 36-hole property a deliberately different landscape and playing rhythm.
