Overview: Sewailo Golf Club is a resort-access course at Casino Del Sol in Tucson, designed by Notah Begay III and Ty Butler. The par-72 layout blends rolling desert terrain with arroyos, streams, lakes, native plantings, and mountain views, creating a hybrid desert-and-parkland experience.
History: The Pascua Yaqui Tribe unveiled Sewailo in December 2013 as a course designed to fit its native landscape and cultural setting. Begay and Butler transformed formerly flat desert ground into a rolling 18-hole course while retaining native plants and incorporating water features into the routing.
Did You Know? Sewailo means “flower world” in the Pascua Yaqui language. More than 30,000 native flowers, plants, and cacti were used across the property, and the tee markers were hand-painted by students from the Pascua Yaqui Tribe.
