Overview: Seven Canyons is a private Tom Weiskopf course in Sedona, Arizona, set among red-rock canyons and protected Coconino National Forest. Weiskopf routed the 18 holes through a compact box canyon, using elevation changes, rock walls and native desert vegetation to make the land the central architectural feature. The course is intimate in scale but visually varied from one hole to the next.
History: An earlier golf course operated on the property in 1961 and later closed. The site was reimagined around 2000, and Weiskopf developed the present routing after touring the land on horseback; Seven Canyons officially opened in April 2003.
Did You Know? The course occupies about 200 acres surrounded by more than 100,000 acres of protected national forest. That relationship explains why the holes can feel secluded even though the course is part of a larger resort and residential development.
