Overview: The Tanjong is Sentosa Golf Club's 18-hole, par-72 course on Sentosa Island, with the directory listing its longer tees at 6,200 yards. The course occupies a coastal-facing part of the island and brings views of the Singapore Strait and the metropolitan skyline into a routing built around broad sand areas, water features, tropical vegetation and firm playing corridors. Andrew Johnston's redesign created a separate identity from The Serapong: Tanjong is a modern reconstruction of an older course, not a second name for the club's other layout. Its changing sightlines and the relationship between fairway width, sand and water make position a recurring part of the round.
History: Sentosa Golf Club opened its first course in 1974. The earlier Tanjong layout was later redeveloped under Andrew Johnston, with progressive play beginning in November 2016 and the full opening scheduled for February 2017. The club's redevelopment release describes a course influenced by sandbelt architecture and built with a strong environmental brief. The Tanjong then became the host course for the HSBC Women's World Championship from 2017, while the Singapore Open remained associated with The Serapong. This division of events helps explain the two courses' different public identities within one club.
Did You Know? During the redevelopment, more than 300 trees were relocated to a temporary nursery. The project also added six reservoirs that work as water features and irrigation storage, reused concrete from former paths and introduced resource-reuse measures across the site. Those details are part of the course's construction history, not just its presentation, and show how the new routing was built around the island's existing landscape.
