Overview: Senayan National Golf Club is an urban 18-hole, par-69 course in the heart of Jakarta’s central business district. The current layout is approximately 5,600 yards and sits among high-rise buildings, shopping complexes and the wider Senayan sports district. Bob Moore Jr. and JMP Golf Design Group shaped a compact parkland experience that remains surprisingly green, with thousands of planted trees creating a botanical feel around the fairways. The shorter par is part of its appeal, but water, trees and positional approaches still make the round a proper city-golf test.
History: Golf has been played at Senayan since the facility’s earlier Kebayoran Golf Club period in the 1960s. The current course reopened in December 2012 after a full renovation by JMP Group, with Bob Moore Jr. identified as the course designer. That date marks the modern routing rather than the beginning of golf on the site. The redevelopment kept the course inside Jakarta’s fast-growing CBD, making the club a rare established golf property surrounded by the city rather than pushed to its edge.
Did You Know? The first hole is a 540-yard par 5, an unusually strong opening statement for a par-69 urban course. Senayan’s distinguishing feature is the contrast between that long opening target and the compact downtown setting: skyscrapers and major retail developments are close by, yet the tree planting keeps the course visually separated and gives the fairways the atmosphere of a green park.
