Overview: Golf de Seignosse is an eighteen-hole woodland course in the Landes, between the Atlantic Ocean and the forest of maritime pines. Robert von Hagge and Landes architect Pierre Thévenin designed the course in 1989 across a rolling, sandy landscape. The official course profile lists a par 73 route with sinuous fairways, changing elevation and a strong emphasis on strategic placement. Pine forest and the nearby ocean create a distinctive setting, while water, double-plateau greens and sloping approaches make club selection important throughout the round. The holes do not depend on one repeated template: some run through narrow wooded corridors, others open onto broader ground, and the final hole is an unusual long par six that climbs back towards the clubhouse. Seignosse is a technical course, but its difficulty comes from the interaction of landform, vegetation and approach angles rather than from length alone.
History: Seignosse was designed and opened in 1989 as a collaboration between Robert von Hagge and Pierre Thévenin. The course occupies a seventy-hectare domain in the Landes forest and has become one of the best-known layouts on France's Atlantic coast. The current operator's course guide continues to present the same architectural lineage and describes an eighteen-hole course that remains accessible to public play. Over time the route has retained its woodland setting while its identity has been strengthened by detailed work around the greens, the rolling fairways and the distinctive finish. The course is now operated within the Resonance Golf Collection, which publishes current 2026 access and tariff information for the exact Seignosse layout.
Did You Know? Seignosse's eighteenth is described by the operator as the first par six in France. From the back tee it measures 666 metres and runs uphill towards the clubhouse, making the final hole a rare five-shot architectural statement rather than an ordinary par five.
