Overview: Seawane Club is a private Long Island course in Hewlett Harbor, built on land that was once marsh and tidal ground. Devereux Emmet's 18-hole layout uses the reclaimed site, wind and a dense network of bunkers to create a distinctive links-influenced parkland test.
History: The club was founded in 1927 and the original Emmet course was built across reclaimed marshes. Later tree planting and course changes altered the setting, while more recent work by Jeff Stein has aimed to recover elements of the original open character.
Did You Know? The club's history describes roughly 200 bunkers in the original concept. That number helps explain why Seawane's hazards are not isolated ornaments but a major part of the course's architectural language.
