Overview: The Jones Course at Sea Trail Golf Resort is an 18-hole Rees Jones design in Sunset Beach, North Carolina. The par-72 layout measures 6,761 yards from the blue tees and uses generous mounded fairways, lakes, towering trees and a series of pot and waste bunkers to create a balanced resort round. Water comes into play on many holes, but the broad fairway shapes and multiple tee areas keep the course approachable as well as strategic.
History: The Jones Course opened in 1990 as one of Sea Trail's three distinct 18-hole layouts. Its identity sits between the more open Byrd routing and the classic Maples course, giving the resort a useful middle option for multi-round trips. Sea Trail has continued to update course infrastructure and playing surfaces while preserving the original architect-specific character of the three courses.
Did You Know? Sea Trail is a single 54-hole resort, but its three courses are designed as separate architectural statements. Keeping Jones linked to Rees Jones matters because the course's broad mounding, water placement and generous fairways are different from the tighter tree lines and waste areas associated with the Maples and Byrd routings.
