Overview: Heron Point by Pete Dye is a Hilton Head Island course built around risk-and-reward choices, wooded corridors, lagoons and shaped target areas. Its mounding, swales and hazard lines create a strategic contrast with the more openly coastal feel of Harbour Town.
History: Heron Point grew from Sea Pines’ original Sea Marsh course. Pete Dye led a multimillion-dollar reconstruction that produced the current course in 2007, and the resort continues to present it as one of its signature Dye layouts.
Did You Know? The course’s official hole descriptions show Dye’s deliberate mix of short and long risk-reward holes rather than a layout built around one repeated formula.
