Overview: Scioto Country Club, located in Columbus, Ohio, is a historic golden-age parkland masterpiece designed by Donald Ross. Characterized by its rolling, tree-lined hills and winding creeks, the course is highly celebrated for its strategic routing that utilizes the natural topography to create challenging lies. The design features Ross’s signature crowned green complexes protected by deep, strategically placed bunkers, demanding both length off the tee and a precise short game.
History: Opened in 1916, Scioto’s routing was refined by Donald Ross to establish a premier championship venue in the Midwest. In 2021, architect Andrew Green completed a highly acclaimed restoration of the course, removing hundreds of trees, expanding the greens back to Ross's original square dimensions, and restoring the bold scale of the bunkers. It has hosted five major championships, including the U.S. Open and the 1931 Ryder Cup.
Did You Know? Scioto was the childhood club of legendary champion Jack Nicklaus, who learned the game on these fairways under the guidance of legendary head professional Jack Grout. It stands as one of only a few select clubs in America to have hosted a U.S. Open, PGA Championship, Ryder Cup, and U.S. Amateur.
