Overview: Saurines de la Torre Golf is an 18-hole desert-style course in Roldán, Murcia, shaped by the dry volcanic character of the Las Terrazas de La Torre resort area. The Nicklaus Design layout uses broad landing areas, bold mounding and carefully placed bunkers to create a strong visual frame around the holes. Its fairways can invite an aggressive line, but the wisest approach is usually to understand where the next shot should come from before choosing the club from the tee. The exposed setting gives the wind a clear role, while the contrast between pale sand, native planting and green playing surfaces makes the course immediately recognizable.
History: Saurines de la Torre opened in 2011 as part of the Las Terrazas de La Torre Golf Resort. Nicklaus Design developed the course around an Arizona-inspired desert aesthetic adapted to southeastern Spain, using the existing terrain and resort setting to create a full-length par-72 routing. The course has retained that visual identity as the wider resort has evolved. Its appeal comes from the way the design stays legible from hole to hole while still demanding control of approach angles and recovery shots.
Did You Know? The name Saurines reflects the course's volcanic setting and its deliberate desert visual language. Nicklaus Design describes the property as a volcanic area, and the wide spaces between fairways help the landforms and dry ground remain visible rather than being hidden by dense ornamental planting.
