Overview: Sara Bay Country Club is a private, walkable Donald Ross course in Sarasota, Florida, with a par-72 routing that reaches 7,021 yards from the blue tees. Mature trees, precise bunkering and classic green contours give the parkland course the restrained character of a historic Ross design.
History: The club was founded in 1926 under the name Whitfield Estates Country Club, after Ross and his associates selected the present site in 1925. The course was restored in 2018 by Spence Golf using the original plans, recovering Ross bunker and green ideas while preserving the club’s long history.
Did You Know? The club hosted the Senior PGA Championship in 1940 and 1941, then later became a recurring site for Florida Golf Association events and U.S. Open qualifying.
