Overview: The New Course plays eighteen holes to a par of 72 in Kitahiroshima, south-east of Sapporo, with the current club hole table totaling 6,672 yards from the back tees. The course uses natural undulations, ponds, creeks and bunkers across an open Hokkaido setting, with the fifth hole noted for its view across the Ishikari Plain. That combination gives the New Course a resort-friendly visual openness without removing the need to plan the landing area.
History: The New Course opened in 1974 and is credited to Hirochika Tomizawa. It forms one half of the club's New and Old 36-hole complex, while the separate Thomson Course adds another 18-hole identity at the wider facility. The club presents New as an American-style layout suited to casual self-play, a useful part of its current character rather than a claim that the course is merely recreational.
Did You Know? The New Course's directory label is paired with a separate Old routing at the same club, but the two should not be merged. New has its own 6,672-yard hole table, architect and visual relationship with the Ishikari Plain. The course's water features are also functional strategy: ponds and creeks can change the safest line even when the fairway appears broad from the tee.
