Overview: Formerly known as Parque da Floresta, Santo António Golf is one of the most unique and geographically challenging courses in the Western Algarve. Designed by the famous Spanish architect Pepe Gancedo, the layout is integrated perfectly into the natural, hilly topography of the Budens countryside. The course is famously undulating, requiring golfers to navigate steep slopes, deep ravines, and elevated plateau greens. It is a technical heathland-style course where accuracy and local knowledge are far more important than raw power.
Did You Know? Gancedo's philosophy was to make "zero alterations" to the natural terrain, resulting in several holes that feature severe elevation changes that are unlike anything else in Portugal. Because of the steep hills, a golf buggy is considered almost essential for a round at Santo António, and the spectacular views from the highest tees often stretch all the way to the Atlantic shoreline at Salema.
