Overview: Raven Golf Club at Sandestin is a Robert Trent Jones Jr. design shaped through the pine forests, marshes and coastal ground of the Emerald Coast. The 18-hole par 71 course plays about 6,900 yards from the longest listed tees. Its “modern traditional” character combines broad visual corridors with water, native vegetation and strategic shot options, while the changing environment gives the round a clear sequence. The course is challenging because the best line changes with the setting, not because every hole demands maximum length.
History: Raven was developed as part of Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort around 2000. Jones described the course as a modern traditional, a phrase that fits the combination of classic strategic ideas and a contemporary Florida site. The resort’s current yardage guide lists four sets of tees from 5,060 to 6,931 yards, while its public and resort-guest programs make the course one of Sandestin’s more accessible championship layouts.
Did You Know? Raven hosted the Boeing Championship at Sandestin in 2006 and 2007. The course’s 18th hole was also rated the toughest hole on the PGA Champions Tour during the 2006 event. That tournament history is notable because the course’s design remains playable for resort rounds while still providing a serious closing test when set up for competition.
