Sandestin Resort (Baytowne Golf Club)

Overview: Sand Golf Club is a spectacular and unique masterpiece in the heart of the Swedish countryside, widely regarded as one of the most ambitious and high-quality modern layouts in Northern Europe. Designed by the legendary team of Arthur Hills and Steve Forrest and opened in 2006, the course is a masterclass in modern strategic design, featuring massive waste areas, large white-sand bunkers, and significant elevation changes created through massive earthworks on a formerly flat landscape. The routing winds through a magnificent landscape of rolling meadows and ancient woodland, requiring power off the tee and precise execution into large, undulating greens. It is recognized for its exceptional maintenance and its role as a premier sanctuary of the game in the region.

Did You Know? During the construction of the course, Hills and Forrest famously moved millions of cubic meters of earth to create the dramatic mounding and hollows that define the layout, providing a sense of scale and isolation that is rare in the region. The course famously features several unique architectural quirks, including its large, tiered greens and the signature "Sand Bunkering" that rewards bold, strategic play. Sand has hosted numerous major professional events and serves as a vital training ground for the next generation of Swedish golfers. The clubhouse is a stunning example of modern Scandinavian architecture and offers panoramic views across the course and the surrounding forest, reflecting the club's status as a premier sanctuary of modern championship golf. To this day, it remains one of the most respected and sought-after tee times in the world.
