Overview: Sandakan Golf & Country Club is an 18-hole course on Mile 6 North Road in Sabah's nature-oriented city. Its current course guide calls it an 18-hole boutique layout and lists the holes in metres, with tree-lined ground, water and a sequence of par-three and par-five tests. The published hole pars add to 72. A single full-course yardage is left blank because the guide presents multiple tee distances on several holes rather than one verified total. Visitor play is available under the club's guest conditions.
History: The club began in 1958 as a six-hole course at Karamunting under the name The Sandakan Club. It moved to Airport Road in 1973 with nine holes, then to the current Mile 6 North Road site in 1982 with a new nine-hole course and clubhouse. The second nine was completed in 1988, creating the present 18-hole course, and the club adopted the Sandakan Golf and Country Club name in 1995.
Did You Know? The club's current guide marks the 17th as a signature par three, with tee options of 194 or 133 metres. That hole sits late in a layout that also includes the long par-five 15th and the par-four 18th, so the closing stretch changes distance and rhythm several times. The result is a course identity rooted in sequence and local history, not simply in a generic tropical backdrop.
