Overview: Located near Jönköping, Sweden, Sand Golf Club is a modern 18-hole inland links course designed by the American team of Arthur Hills and Steve Forrest. Built on a sandy, rolling terrain that was formerly a sand quarry, the layout features deep sod-walled bunkers, towering sand dunes, and large, highly contoured putting greens. The open, wind-exposed fairways and firm, fast turf offer an authentic British-style links experience in the heart of Sweden.
History: Opened in 2005, the course was built using a massive earth-moving project that excavated over 300,000 cubic meters of sand to shape the dunes and hazards. Hills and Forrest routed the holes to emphasize strategic positioning, forcing players to navigate steep sandy slopes and deep blowout bunkers. The course quickly earned international acclaim as one of Sweden's top championship layouts.
Did You Know? Because of its pure sand foundation, the course has exceptional natural drainage. The sandy soil can absorb massive amounts of rain without pooling water, allowing the course to play firm, fast, and dry even during the wettest Swedish autumns.
