Overview: Samanah Golf Club by Nicklaus is an 18-hole championship course south of Marrakech, set across a private 300-hectare estate with the Atlas Mountains as its backdrop. Nicklaus Design created a broad, strategic desert-style layout with large greens, waste areas, native planting and wide views. The club’s technical sheet gives a par of 72 and a 6,700-metre course length.
History: Nicklaus Design’s official project record dates Samanah’s opening to 2008, while the club’s own technical sheet records construction in 2007 and the first ball on 4 November 2008. Samanah was Nicklaus Design’s first golf course in Morocco and has since become a regular championship and tournament venue.
Did You Know? The club sits only about fifteen minutes from central Marrakech but its golf estate is designed around open views of the snow-covered Atlas range. The contrast between the dry landscape, green fairways and high mountains is central to the course’s visual identity.
