Overview: As the first "Desert Course" in Gran Canaria, the Old Course at Salobre is a refined and technically technical masterpiece designed by Roland Fream. Carved through rugged volcanic ravines and past dramatic red-rock formations, the course is defined by its narrow fairways and significant elevation changes. It is a visceral and high-drama venue that prizes accuracy and tactical discipline, providing a rhythmic and visceral adventure that feels like a journey through the Martian-like landscapes of the island's interior.
Did You Know? The course was built using a specialized "Low Water" standard that utilize indigenous xeriscaping to replace millions of square meters of traditional turf. During his design, Fream meticulously integrated the fairways into the natural "Barrancos" (ravines) to serve as essential drainage channels, ensuring that the course remains a national leader in sustainable desert golf management and volcanic nature preservation.
