Overview: Located near Rome with dramatic views of the historic Marco Simone Castle, the Championship Course at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club is a tournament layout designed by Jim Fazio and David Mezzacane, with a comprehensive redesign by Dave Sampson of European Golf Design. The rolling parkland layout features dramatic elevation changes, wide and undulating fairways, deep bunkers, and massive, multi-tiered greens engineered for strategic match-play excitement.
History: Opened in 1989 on a historic estate, the course became a premier competitive venue in Italy. The massive 2018–2021 redesign completely transformed the layout into a modern amphitheater specifically engineered for viewing corridors and intense match-play competition, culminating in hosting the 2023 Ryder Cup match.
Did You Know? From several elevated tee boxes on the back nine, players can enjoy a long-distance view of the dome of St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican, providing a unique and historic Roman backdrop to their round.
