Overview: Ryugasaki Country Club’s C routing is an 18-hole, par-72 parkland course in Ryugasaki, Ibaraki, set among gently undulating ground and mature pine. The official course material describes a glade layout that follows the land’s natural configuration rather than relying on conspicuous earthmoving. Fairways change direction through the trees, the ground supplies subtle uneven lies, and the greens reward an approach played to the correct side. The result is a quiet-looking course with a serious demand for position and accuracy.
History: Ryugasaki Country Club opened on 8 November 1958 after a local civic initiative to bring a course to the city and introduce more people to the area. Seiichi Inoue, one of Japan’s defining post-war course architects, shaped the 18 holes and remained closely involved after the opening. The club’s own history records national events including the Japan Open, Japan Ladies Open and Japan Amateur, giving the course a competition record that matches its standing in Japanese golf.
Did You Know? The club’s official timeline records the C Green entering use in 2006, when the former Korai green was converted to New Bent CY2. Ryugasaki’s history also notes that Inoue regarded the tenth as one of his most deliberate holes: although it has no bunkers, its natural undulation and aerial hazards still demand a carefully planned line.
