Overview: Rush Creek Golf Club is a public 18-hole course in Maple Grove designed by Bob Cupp and John Fought. The layout was created to combine a polished club atmosphere with public access, using wetlands, water, broad fairways and shaped greens to build a course with both visual openness and strategic tension. The routing is modern but not purely target-style: approach angles, recovery spaces and the movement of the land matter as much as raw length. Its southwest-facing views and natural corridors give the course a distinctive place in the Minneapolis golf landscape.
History: W. Duncan MacMillan founded Rush Creek in 1996 after envisioning a first-class public facility on an old golf property and farm. Bob Cupp and John Fought designed the 18-hole course and original clubhouse, and play began in June of that year. The facility expanded with a ballroom and banquet center in 2000, while the course built a competitive profile through three LPGA Tour events and the 2004 U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship. Rush Creek's history is therefore tied to both public golf and tournament-quality presentation.
Did You Know? Rush Creek's original vision was deliberately described as a private-club experience offered through a public course. That idea was central to W. Duncan MacMillan's founding plan and remains part of the facility's identity.
