Overview: Situated north of Copenhagen in an elegant, mature parkland estate near the coast, Rungsted Golf Klub is one of Denmark's most prestigious and historic private venues. Designed by Charles Atkinson MacKenzie, the course features wide, rolling fairways lined by centennial oaks, beeches, and pines, with strategic water hazards and small, fast putting greens. The layout offers a classic, strategic test of golf where course management, precise approach angles, and short-game creativity are highly rewarded.
History: Opened in 1937, the course was designed by the brother of the legendary Dr. Alister MacKenzie, bringing a touch of classic British design philosophy to Denmark. Rungsted has served as a prominent venue for international professional tournaments, playing host to the Copenhagen Open and the European Seniors Tour, won by stars like Seve Ballesteros and Colin Montgomerie.
Did You Know? The club has close historic ties to the famous Danish author Karen Blixen (who wrote "Out of Africa"); her family's historic estate, Rungstedlund, borders the course, and her former home is now a museum adjacent to the clubhouse.
