Overview: Fighting Joe covers 18 holes at par 72 beside Wilson Lake, where Robert Trent Jones, Sr. used broad fairways, open terrain, and the river-valley setting.
History: The course opened in August 2004 as part of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. It was named for General Joseph Joe Wheeler, whose Civil War history is closely connected with the Tennessee River valley.
Did You Know? Fighting Joe was the first course on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail to measure more than 8,000 yards. Its length is part of the course’s identity, but the open lake setting also makes wind and angle important.
