Overview: Ross Bridge is a large-scale public course in Hoover, Alabama, built across 310 acres as one of the major sites on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. Roger Rulewich’s design uses rolling ground, lakes, broad fairways and significant elevation changes to create a championship layout that measures 8,168 yards at par 72 from the current black tees. A cascading waterfall between the ninth and eighteenth greens is one of the most visible landscape features, but the course’s character is equally shaped by hillside viewing areas, long approaches and the need to manage uneven ground.
History: Ross Bridge opened in April 2005 as the eleventh site on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. It was developed by the Retirement Systems of Alabama with the City of Hoover and private partners as part of a larger golf resort and residential project. The course was built with tournament hosting in mind, including viewing areas and paths that connect the holes to the clubhouse. From 2006 through 2010 it hosted the Regions Charity Classic on the PGA Champions Tour, giving the new layout an early professional tournament history.
Did You Know? The waterfall between the ninth and eighteenth greens connects two lakes and is designed as part of the course’s central visual axis. It marks the transition from the outward nine to the closing stretch without serving as a conventional single-hole feature.
