Overview: The Ridge Course at Oxmoor Valley is a public mountain course in Birmingham, Alabama, with wooded slopes, exposed rock and substantial elevation changes. Robert Trent Jones Sr. used the former mining landscape to create a course where lies, sightlines and changes in elevation are as important as the listed yardage.
History: Oxmoor Valley opened in 1992 as part of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. The Ridge Course is one of two eighteen-hole routings at the property, and its identity comes from the transformation of former U.S. Steel mining land into a public golf destination.
Did You Know? The third green sits on an exposed shale shelf, an unusually direct reminder of the site’s industrial geology. The Ridge routing also carries a heavier tree and elevation profile than the Valley Course at the same facility.
