Overview: Royal St David’s is a traditional links between Harlech Beach and Harlech Castle in Gwynedd. The 18 holes run through dune land and flatter links ground, with Cardigan Bay winds, natural contours and well-placed hazards making the par-69 course more demanding than its yardage suggests. The castle and mountains provide a clear sense of place throughout the round.
History: Royal St David’s was established in 1894 and received royal patronage as the club developed its identity. The course has hosted national amateur championships as well as professional events including the Ladies European Tour and European Seniors Tour. Its long competition record reflects a layout that asks for control, trajectory and patience in changing coastal conditions.
Did You Know? Harlech Castle, which overlooks the course, is part of the UNESCO World Heritage site Castles and Town Walls of King Edward in Gwynedd. A round at Royal St David’s therefore places a historic medieval fortress directly within the visual frame of a Welsh links.
