Overview: Royal Hawaiian Golf Club is a mountain course in Maunawili Valley, where steep green ridges, streams and tropical vegetation create a sheltered but uneven setting. The 6,609-yard par-72 routing follows the valley rather than the coast, with elevation, water and narrow corridors replacing the open resort geometry found on leeward Oahu.
History: The course opened in 1993 and was designed by Peter and Perry Dye before later work by Greg Norman. The operator describes a routing with streams, royal palms, banana trees and koa, showing how the design was shaped around the existing valley vegetation.
Did You Know? The eleventh hole includes a pond feature that is one of the course’s noted landmarks. It sits within the Maunawili landscape, where water moving down from the Koʻolau range is part of the valley’s natural structure.
