Overview: Royal Bled's Lake's Course is a nine-hole, par-36 layout in the alpine landscape around Bled. Donald Harradine is credited with the Lake's design, and the current course information lists approximately 3,332 yards. The shorter course is not a flat afterthought: its fairways and greens sit beneath the Karawanks and Julian Alps, with wooded corridors, changing lies and mountain weather shaping the round. It forms one half of the Royal Bled golf destination alongside the 18-hole King's Course, giving the resort a compact option as well as its championship routing.
History: Golf at Bled reaches back to 1937, when the first official game was played on the original first nine. The early project was associated with Rudolf von Gelmini and was later partly revised by Desedier Lauber. Donald Harradine revived and substantially remodelled the course in 1972, and Golf Club Bled followed in 1975. After a major renovation between 2015 and 2017, the property reopened under the Royal Bled name. The historic Lake's nine remains an important part of that story, preserving a shorter routing within one of Europe's most recognisable mountain golf settings.
Did You Know? Royal Bled's Lake's Course is only a few minutes from Lake Bled and its famous island church, while the golf property itself looks toward the same dramatic Alpine landscape. The facility therefore links two of Slovenia's best-known images: a historic golf destination and a glacial lake surrounded by mountains. The nine-hole format makes it possible to experience that setting in a shorter round without leaving the Royal Bled estate.
