Overview: The North Course at Rosebud Country Club is an 18-hole Mornington Peninsula layout set across sandy scrub, open ground and the remnants of an older pine landscape. Its par-71 routing and blue-tee length of about 6,706 yards give it a substantial but not excessive scale. The course's character is understated: broad land, changing vegetation and the natural movement of the property create a round that is spacious rather than tightly staged. Jack Watson's original work and later Ogilvy Cocking Mead involvement are read through the way the course sits in its terrain instead of dominating it.
History: Rosebud's official history records the formation of the country club entity in 1962, the first nine holes on the Boneo Road property in February 1964 and the full 18-hole opening on 20 March 1965. Current course references attribute the North Course to Jack Watson, with Ogilvy Cocking Mead associated with later work. That chronology is kept separate from the earlier nine-hole Rosebud Park course, which began in 1956, so the 1965 date refers to the North Course's completed 18-hole routing.
Did You Know? The full North Course opened on 20 March 1965, only a little over a year after the first nine holes were ready. The club's earlier 1956 Rosebud Park history means the site carries two distinct chapters of golf development before the present Boneo Road course reached 18 holes.
