Overview: Rosa Private Golf Club in Konopiska is a water-rich parkland course created from difficult clay ground and a landscape that was once considered for industrial development. Hans-Georg Erhardt shaped the project around the site's natural height changes, while Garry Ashfield also contributed specialist design work. The 18 holes use broad fairways, lakes, planted corridors and carefully managed changes of level to produce a course that is both visual and strategic. Its character comes from the interaction of water, earth and vegetation rather than from a single dominant style.
History: Rosa's story began with the purchase of the Konopiska land in 2000. Earthworks started in 2002, and the original idea for a small nine-hole course was changed after Erhardt studied the property in 2003. The design became one full-size 18-hole course, with more than a million cubic metres of earth moved and roughly 450,000 cubic metres excavated for future lakes. The club's 20-year history records 2004 as a major construction milestone and describes the landscape as having matured through continual planting and care.
Did You Know? Rosa's lakes form a cascading system that was shaped by the site's natural elevation differences. Water can move between reservoirs, helping aeration and ecological balance while also creating a visual sequence through the round. The course is therefore not simply decorated with lakes; its water network is part of the engineering and landscape idea behind the design.
