Overview: Bungool is one of the two current 18-hole courses at Riverside Oaks Golf Resort, north-west of Sydney along the Hawkesbury River. Bob Harrison’s layout measures 6,305 metres at par 72 and uses the river country’s broad spaces, native vegetation and water edges to create a strategic resort round. The course is not just a scenic escape: the best approach angles depend on where the drive finishes, and the river landscape can make a safe-looking line less comfortable than it first appears.
History: Bungool opened in 2014 as part of the Riverside Oaks development, which also includes the Gangurru course and accommodation. Bob Harrison designed the layout for a modern golf resort setting, using the Hawkesbury environment as a central design feature. Current Golf NSW information confirms that Bungool and Gangurru are separate 18-hole courses at the same resort, which is important when matching the directory routing.
Did You Know? Riverside Oaks has two full courses with different identities: Bungool and Gangurru. The Bungool name is tied to the course’s own routing, so it should not be merged with directory variants such as Gangurru 11a or 11b, which do not have a stable current 18-hole identity.
