Overview: Rio Secco Golf Club occupies rugged desert terrain in Henderson, with Rees Jones using canyons, plateaus and open desert to create several distinct playing environments. The public course stretches across elevated ground above the Las Vegas Valley, where forced carries, elevation changes and shaped approach areas determine how aggressively a player can use the landscape.
History: Rio Secco was designed and built by Rees Jones in 1997. The course quickly became linked with the Butch Harmon School of Golf, which opened at Rio Secco that same year and helped establish the property as both a golf course and an instruction destination.
Did You Know? Rio Secco is arranged in three contrasting six-hole movements: canyon holes, plateau holes and a broader desert section. That sequence is why the course can feel like three different landscapes during one round, even though all 18 holes sit within the Henderson desert setting.
