Overview: Richards Bay Country Club has an 18-hole parkland course on the Mzingazi Golf Estate, with Mzingazi Lake forming a natural boundary beside the layout. The current Golfify scorecard lists par 71 and about 6,459 metres from the men’s tees. Tree-lined fairways, warm coastal vegetation and the lake’s presence give the course a relaxed Zululand setting, but the routing still asks for careful club selection and control through the scoring holes.
History: The course opened in 1974 as Richards Bay grew into a major industrial and port centre on the KwaZulu-Natal coast. Peter Matkovich is associated with the current course design, which was developed within the Mzingazi estate rather than as an isolated municipal layout. The club has continued to operate as a broad sports and social venue, with golf remaining its central outdoor activity.
Did You Know? Mzingazi Lake is more than a scenic backdrop. It forms the boundary of the estate and gives the course its name and sense of direction, so the round is continually connected to the water even on holes where the lake is not an immediate target.
