Overview: Rhuddlan Golf Club is an 18-hole parkland course in the Vale of Clwyd, sheltered by the Clwydian Range in North Wales. Fred G. Hawtree's layout is gently undulating and uses the protected valley setting to create a course that can be enjoyable to walk while still demanding accurate play. Tree-lined fairways, fast-running greens and views toward the surrounding mountains give the holes a coherent sense of place. The profile figures used here are the back-tee par 70 and 6,482 yards; the club also publishes a shorter yellow-tee configuration at par 72 and 6,291 yards, so the exact test depends on the selected tees.
History: Rhuddlan Golf Course was established in 1930 and designed by Fred G. Hawtree, whose work also included major courses and remodels elsewhere in Britain. The club has grown into a regular venue for Welsh county and national championships, and its official course overview records the Faldo Series Welsh Final in 2021 and 2022 as well as the 2024 Welsh Women's Teams Championship. That competitive history sits alongside a welcoming parkland layout close to the historic town of Rhuddlan and the River Clwyd.
Did You Know? Rhuddlan's sheltered position does not mean the course is isolated from Welsh golf history. The club has repeatedly been selected for national events, including the Faldo Series finals, while the Clwydian Range provides the backdrop from many holes. The combination of championship use, mountain views and a protected valley climate is what gives this parkland course its distinctive character.
