Overview: Red Ledges Golf Club is a private Jack Nicklaus Signature course in Heber City, Utah, set across the red foothills of the Heber Valley. The 18-hole layout uses red-rock outcrops, cedar and juniper, gullies and changing mountain grades to create a course that is visually rugged without losing the clarity of a strategic design. The Wasatch Range and Mount Timpanogos provide a constant backdrop, while the shifts between open ground and more enclosed native corridors give the round a varied rhythm. From the longest directory markers it measures 7,569 yards, with the high-altitude landscape adding another layer to club selection and recovery play.
History: Red Ledges grew from a vision by co-founders Tony Burns and Bob Archibald for a mountain community built around landscape and shared outdoor pursuits. They commissioned Jack Nicklaus to design an 18-hole Signature course as well as the separate 12-hole Golf Park. The championship course opened in 2009 as the central golf amenity, with the surrounding community and additional recreation developing around it. Nicklaus’s routing responds to the property’s natural washes and rock formations, so the course’s identity comes directly from the land rather than from decorative resort features.
Did You Know? Red Ledges has two very different Nicklaus golf experiences on the same property: the championship course and a 12-hole Golf Park. The shorter layout was conceived to make golf more approachable and informal, while the 18-hole course remains a full championship test with the same red-rock and mountain setting.
