Overview: Raven Golf Club is a daily-play 18-hole course at the foot of South Mountain in Phoenix. Designed by Gary Panks and David Graham, it combines a traditional parkland look with the scale and light of the Sonoran Desert. Course records list a 1995 opening, par 72 and 7,078 yards from the back tees. Mature trees, broad fairways, bunkering and water features give the round a resort-like presentation, while the location near central Phoenix makes it especially useful for golfers staying in the city rather than in Scottsdale.
History: Raven has developed a distinctive identity by placing a green, tree-lined course in a desert metro setting. The design team’s approach is visible in the balance between shaped landform, planted corridors and more open holes near South Mountain. It has been included in Arizona visitor golf directories and has built a reputation as a tournament-capable public venue, with practice facilities, instruction and event support reinforcing its role as a full-service Phoenix golf stop.
Did You Know? Raven sits beside South Mountain, one of the largest municipal park preserves in the country. The course’s mature planted corridors make the nearby desert mountain feel like a backdrop rather than the entire playing surface.
