Overview: Rathsallagh Golf & Country Club ~ Christy O'Connor presents an 18-hole championship parkland course near Dunlavin in County Wicklow. It is routed across rolling country-house land with mature oak, beech and lime trees, while burns, ditches, ponds and multi-level greens provide the main strategic features. Current course information lists a par 72 and a championship length of about 6,885 yards. The directory’s Christy O’Connor label identifies the exact course within the wider country-club setting.
History: The course was designed by Peter McEvoy and Christy O’Connor Jr and first opened in 1995. Rathsallagh was later closed for an extended period before reopening in June 2016 after new ownership and substantial investment. Its history is consequently a story of recovery as well as design: the present course is an established layout brought back into active operation, with the original parkland character and USGA-style greens retained.
Did You Know? The 18th is a rising par four of roughly 450 yards and is described as a demanding finish. That closing hole fits the wider routing philosophy: generous parkland spaces are balanced by strategic bunkering and an approach to a green where elevation matters. Rathsallagh’s country-house setting is part of the history, but the round is decided by the movement of the land and the placement of hazards.
