Overview: Bushwillow is the more wooded of Randpark Golf Club’s two main courses, a mature Johannesburg parkland routing with tree-lined corridors, strategic bunkers and ponds that interrupt otherwise generous landing areas. The course plays to par 72 and measures about 6,330 metres from the club tees. Its broad fairways invite an assertive drive, but the approach angles and protected greens still reward position over simple power.
History: Randpark began as Windsor Park in the 1940s with only twelve holes, and the complete 18-hole course was in place by 1948. Robert Grimsdell redesigned the layout in 1952, establishing the foundation of the course the club knows today. Later refurbishment has refreshed the surfaces and bunkering while leaving the mature tree framework as the defining feature.
Did You Know? Bushwillow is one half of a two-course destination at Randpark, with Firethorn providing a contrasting companion layout. That makes the club unusually useful for a Johannesburg golf trip: the same property can offer a softer, wooded round and a more tournament-shaped test without a long transfer.
