Overview: South of the Cosumnes River, Rancho Murieta’s South Course is a private Ted Robinson design with eighteen holes south of the Cosumnes River. The club describes tree-lined holes, relatively level approaches and semi-flat greens, giving the South a different playing rhythm from the more elevated North Course. The wider property is defined by gentle Sacramento-region terrain, old oaks and a six-tee system for each course.
History: The South Course opened in 1979, after the North Course had already helped establish Rancho Murieta’s planned community. ASGCA material credits Ted Robinson with the South design, while club history explains that the two courses developed as separate parts of the same community and country-club story.
Did You Know? The Cosumnes River is a defining geographic feature of Rancho Murieta. The South Course lies on the river’s south side, which helps explain both its name and the way the community’s golf history developed in two distinct phases.
