Overview: The Pate Course at Rancho La Quinta is one of the private club’s two 18-hole desert layouts in La Quinta. Jerry Pate’s routing uses the Coachella Valley setting, with palms, mountain views and shaped desert edges creating a course that is defined by placement as much as by the surrounding scale.
History: Rancho La Quinta’s golf property was planned in the 1980s and restored for a December 1993 reopening after a change of ownership. The Pate Course carries Jerry Pate’s design credit, distinct from Robert Trent Jones Jr.’s companion Jones Course on the same 700-acre property.
Did You Know? The club hosted the nationally televised PGA Tour Skins Game in the late 1990s. That event belongs to Rancho La Quinta’s broader history, while the Pate name identifies the specific 18-hole routing in this directory record.
