Overview: The Jones Course at Rancho La Quinta is one of the private club’s two 18-hole desert layouts in La Quinta. Robert Trent Jones Jr. shaped the routing through a broad Coachella Valley property, where mountain views, palms and desert edges frame a full-length course. The club’s available material confirms the design lineage and 1993 reopening chapter.
History: The 700-acre property was planned in the mid-1980s as The Grove. After a change of ownership, Rancho La Quinta restored and reopened the golf club in December 1993, with the Jones and Pate courses carrying separate design credits. The Jones and Pate courses represent separate design credits within that revival.
Did You Know? Rancho La Quinta’s two course names are architectural clues. The Jones Course is associated with Robert Trent Jones Jr., while the companion Pate Course is associated with Jerry Pate. Keeping the pair separate matters more than assigning one generic club architect.
