Overview: Rams Hill Golf Club is a public Tom Fazio desert course in Borrego Springs, set beneath broad mountain views and surrounded by the native landscape of Anza-Borrego. The current routing plays to par 72 and 7,232 yards from the longest listed tees. Wide landing areas, clear sight lines and significant elevation changes make the course inviting at first glance, while short par fours, memorable par fives and subtly demanding putting surfaces create the strategy. The fairways and greens form a green ribbon across an otherwise arid setting, so wind, distance control and the contrast between irrigated turf and open desert are part of every hole.
History: The property originally contained a 27-hole Ted Robinson course. Tom Fazio created the present 18-hole routing, which opened in 2007, and the course later closed before Rams Hill was resurrected and reopened in 2014. The club’s current materials distinguish the Fazio layout from the earlier Robinson course and emphasize the work required to bring the desert property back into play. Rams Hill now operates as a daily-fee course with stay-and-play accommodation in and around Borrego Springs.
Did You Know? Rams Hill’s design uses the desert as a framing device rather than as a constant hazard. The club describes the setting as an amphitheater, with mountains and open ground surrounding fairways that remain generous enough to invite a bold line. The course also has a run of short par fours and reachable par fives that reward a golfer who chooses the right angle instead of automatically taking the longest club.
