Overview: RACV Healesville Country Club's 18-hole course sits in Victoria's Yarra Valley, where broad fairways, mature vegetation and views across the surrounding country frame a compact par-68 design by Michael Clayton and Michael Cocking. The course does not rely on length alone. Its interest comes from the contrast between generous landing areas and putting surfaces shaped with ridges, dips, rolls, hollows, tiers and plateaus, making the approach and first putt especially important. The target length of about 5,400 yards is retained, and the woodland setting gives the resort course a distinctly regional character rather than a generic hotel-golf appearance.
History: RACV Healesville Country Club belongs to a longer resort story: the club was established in 1952 and its first major facilities opened in 1977. The present 18-hole course is a later project, opened in 2009 after a mid-2000s redesign associated with Michael Clayton and Michael Cocking. That sequence matters because the golf course is not simply an unchanged relic of the original country-club development. It is a modern routing placed within an established Yarra Valley landscape, using the mature setting while giving the greens and fairway corridors a more deliberate architectural identity.
Did You Know? The greens are described through an unusually broad vocabulary of forms: ridges, dips, rolls, hollows, tiers and plateaus. RACV also lists a separate four-hole short course, giving the property a smaller-scale way to experience the same wooded setting alongside the full layout.
