Overview: Qutab Golf Course is an 18-hole public course in Lado Sarai, south New Delhi, close to Qutab Minar. Developed by the Delhi Development Authority, it was designed to put full-course golf and practice facilities within reach of the wider public rather than restricting the site to a private club. The current course material describes a landscaped urban layout with water bodies, a double-decker driving range, putting facilities and a clubhouse. It is a useful Delhi round for golfers who want a playable public course with a strong historic landmark in the surrounding landscape.
History: The DDA course began with nine holes in January 2000, and a further nine were commissioned in May 2002 to create the present 18-hole routing. DDA describes the site as India's first public golf course and later carried out a complete redevelopment credited to Australian architect Ross Perrett. The project added underground drainage, recharge and treated-water systems, helping turn a previously barren tract near Lado Sarai into a substantial green space. The modern course therefore has two layers of history: a public-golf experiment at the turn of the century and a later technical redevelopment.
Did You Know? Qutab Minar can be seen while playing the course. The monument is not merely a nearby sightseeing stop, it is part of the visual identity of the round and gives the Lado Sarai layout a sense of place that few urban public courses can match. Qutab also has a 250-yard, night-lit double-decker driving range, adding a distinctive practice landmark beside the 18-hole course.
