Overview: At Centennial Park on Auckland’s North Shore, Pupuke presents an 18-hole parkland course on Auckland’s North Shore, set on the slopes and open ground of Centennial Park. The course is listed at par 70 and approximately 5,451 metres from the blue tees. Its short card disguises the challenge: the club describes an undulating layout with five par threes and three par fives, where changing wind, narrow corridors and the position of the ball on the slope can matter more than distance alone.
History: Pupuke Golf Club has been established on Centennial Park since 1914, giving the course more than a century of connection with the North Shore. It has developed as a busy community club with a strong junior and local-golf role while retaining the same volcanic-park setting. The current sources do not credit one architect, so that detail is left open rather than attributed to an uncertain name.
Did You Know? Auckland Council’s course material records roughly 1,000 rounds a week on the layout during the period it studied. That level of use reflects Pupuke’s unusual balance: the course is compact and close to the city, but its undulating ground and changing wind still create enough variation to keep a regular round interesting.
